The third stage of the National military-patriotic game for youth Dzhura started in the Kharkiv region yesterday.
For ten days, 26 teams from all over Ukraine will compete in different types of firing, rescuing practices and sports. 300 boys and girls in the age of 15-17 are taking part in the competition.
Some participants say this event has been “the dream of their life.”
The game Dzhura educates the youth both intellectually and physically. It is held in Ukraine for the ninth time and for the first time in Kharkiv – the previous competitions were held in Odesa. Now the participants are staying in a camp site of the training center of the State Service for Emergency Situations.
In addition to training, the entertaining program has been planned for the participants including excursions and creative activities. The organizer Vitaly Yanov says the participants are going to perform a walking trip to the monument of the legendary Cossack Ivan Sirko in Merefa.
The winner will be determined on the Independence Day, August 24 according to the sum of the points scored in several disciplines.
However it is not the victory which matters for the young patriots, as they say, it is the challenge and “feeling of the purpose.”
Reference: Dzhura is the historical name of a weapon-bearer in Ukraine in the 16-18 centuries. Usually, dzhuras were young boys who followed the Cossacks and took part in battles with them.
