Kharkiv Meets Ukrainian President and US Ambassador

Today, September 1, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko is visiting Kharkiv to take part in three opening ceremonies.

The head of state has attended three newly built institutions in the city and in the region. Also, the US Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch joined the President in the tour.

In the morning Poroshenko and Yovanovitch came to the new three-storied school in Pisochyn, the Kharkiv region. It was erected in 2017 and equipped with modern multimedia devices. Today the school opens for 640 students, including two first-graders with special needs.

After that, the guests of honor went to the renovated City Perinatal Center in Saltivka district, where they were shown the new modern spacious department equipped with ultra-modern resuscitation for newborns. The babies of 500 grams are to be saved here and provided proper rehabilitation and treatment.

According to the official data, annually 2500 premature infants get treatment in this center. The president noted that the opportunity to develop the infrastructure for medicine and education appeared due to the region’s financial decentralization.

Then the delegation proceeded to the new Regional Center for rendering administrative services. Poroshenko noted that this is one of the largest and most innovative centers in Ukraine. It was built due to the American partners who invested about $335,000 in its construction, provided it with computers and training for the staff.

From today Kharkivites will be able to obtain about 450 different types of documents and certificates here.
