The Association of International Marathons and Distance Races has certified the routes of Kharkiv International Marathon and Half-Marathon.
“During October 6–8, the Association’s official representative, international measurer of category A, Tadeusz Dziekoński carried out the certification,” Kharkiv City Council’s press-service reported.
Run routes have been certified for a period of four years. The certification allows running official national and international competitions, qualifying for the World Marathon Majors annual competitions. It also gives event organizers an option to apply for the IAAF Road Race Bronze Label (a three-tier system for highway racing evaluating designed by International Association of Athletics Federations).
Note that the half-marathon will take place in Kharkiv on March 25, 2018, and the Fifth jubilee Kharkiv International Marathon will be held on April 29 the same year.
The International Marathon in Kharkiv is an annual event listed in the Ukrainian Book of Records as the biggest race due to the number of registered participants. The marathon’s route goes through central streets with main sights. About 10,000 people took part in the marathon this year, including athletes from 15 foreign countries.
