Yesterday November 16, large-scaled EBA Annual General Membership Meeting 2017 took place in Kyiv. Kharkiv business delegation joined the forum.
The largest and most prestigious meeting of the Ukrainian business community was attended by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman, EU Ambassador to Ukraine Hugus Mingarelli, ministers, domestic and foreign investors and over 600 leaders of the companies — the Association members.
According to Director of the EBA Kharkiv Office Iryna Konovalova, Kharkiv participants were mostly agrarian sector representatives. The delegation included big, medium and small businesses whose heads received an opportunity to meet top managers of the leading world companies like Nestle and PepsiCo.
A panel discussion of Ukraine’s future development and global position with representatives of the Government of Ukraine included screening the videos where children asked the ministers adult questions on some financial and internal issues. The ministers answered them openly and seriously, says Iryna Konovalova.
EU Ambassador Hugus Mingarelli emphasized the need to have set up the Anticorruption Court in Ukraine by the New Year. Fighting corruption is vital to provide economic growth, draw investors and create new working places, pointed the ambassador, specifying that the Venice Commission had already issued the guidelines to build Anticorruption Court in Ukraine.
The meeting concurred with a prominent event — this day the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a long-expected bill on a mandatory video recording of searches of entrepreneurs during a pre-trial investigation. Prime Minister Groysman commented on this event, saying the law would benefit honest business, stopping pressure of the law enforcement agencies.
Also, the question of brain drain concerning young professionals leaving Ukraine was discussed during the meeting as a shortage of qualified staff is becoming acuter currently.
