Kharkivites Win Bronze at Wrestling Senior World Championships

Wrestling Senior World Championships for athletes under 23 took place in Bydgoszcz, Poland, on November 21-26.

In Men’s Freestyle wrestling of weight up to 125 kg, Kharkivite Danylo Kartavyi won bronze. He beat rivals from Turkey and Kazakhstan but lost to Georgian Geno Petriashvili in the semifinal, who became the new world champion. The silver medal was awarded to Magomedamin Dibirov from Russia. In the “bronze final”match Danylo won over Zhanxiang Hu from China and took third place.

In Women’s wrestling of weight up to 75 kg Kharkivite Anastasia Shustova won a bronze medal. She successfully reached the semifinal, beating rivals from Hungary and China but lost to Gracelynn Doogan from Canada in the actual final, who won silver.

In the “bronze final” match Shustova beat rival from India Pooja Pooja. Japanese athlete Yasuha Matsuyuki became the champion in this weight category.

In total, Ukrainian wrestlers won one silver and seven bronze medals at the World Championships.
