Israeli Prosthetic Specialists Train Kharkiv Doctors

During this week’s visit to Kharkiv, the Chaim Sheba Medical Center specialists have trained doctors from Ukrainian Research State Institute for Prosthesis Design, Prosthetic Building and Work Ability Rehabilitation on the treatment of patients with severe trauma;  they also shared new rehabilitation methods.

In particular, international experts told about rehabilitation services experience, as well as gave the master class on treatment and follow-up care to ATO servicemen with wounds, sustained in the explosion, amputations of lower limbs and consequences of spinal injuries.

“Israel has a lot of experience in how to respond and help in cases of emergencies. We should think about technologies we can share with Ukrainian colleagues helping them learn from our experience,” head of the political department of Israeli Embassy in Ukraine Reut Shapir Ben-Naftali noted.

Kharkiv local authorities are planning to create a training center, where Ukrainian and Israeli specialists in physiotherapy, rehabilitation and ergotherapy will work in cooperation.

Reference: The Chaim Sheba Medical Center was founded in Israel in 1948 as a military hospital, and after the Arab-Israeli war they began admitting both civilian and military patients. Currently, it is considered as the largest medical and university institution. One thousand doctors and almost 6,000 medical and technical staff work there.
