Manchester City in Kharkiv: Water and Bananas

The English Premier League Manchester City came to Kharkiv yesterday to play against Shakhtar within the group round of the Champions League on Wednesday, December 6.

Josep Guardiola and his footballers are spending four days in Kharkiv to leave on December 7. The team required police escort from the airport to the Superior Golf & Spa Resort, where they are staying.

Today Josep Guardiola is delivering a routine press conference in the afternoon, after that ManCity are going to test the pitch at Metalist stadium.

The hospitality rider of the British guests for today included two portable gates, 60 kg of cubed ice, 200 half-liter bottles of water, tea, coffee, fruit, 30 bananas and some towels for the training. For tomorrow, the day of the match, the team ordered 100 kg of ice in cubes, 300 bottles of mineral water, tea, coffee and 40 bananas. Notably, bananas are an unofficial mascot of the team over the last 30 years. Yet, there is no clue so far, to what extent ManCity fans will be pleased with Kharkiv bananas.

The British athletes will not fly back home immediately after the match; they are going to stay one more night at the hotel.

At the same time, Shakhtar refused to train in Kharkiv and left to Kyiv this morning to prepare for the match.

Earlier it was reported that more than 30,000 tickets were sold for the match Shakhtar-Manchester City at the Metalist stadium which seats 40,000 fans.
