Kharkiv International Airport (KhIA) has significantly increased the passenger traffic in May 2016, compared with the same period of the last year, as its press-service reports.
“KIA summed up the results of its work in May 2016. This year there is a significant increase in passenger traffic that is not connected with seasonality. The number of passenger reached 53,400 people, it is by 56% more than at the same period of the last year – 34,200 passengers”, – the report said.
Significant growth of passenger traffic is largely connected with the expansion of international flights from Kharkiv. According to the KhIA, there is a great demand for direct flights to Belarus (Minsk), Georgia (Kutaisi) and Poland (Warsaw). Increase of the frequency of flights on popular routes by the airlines (both domestic and international) also played a positive role. The growth of passenger traffic took place on such flights as to Turkey (Antalya, Istanbul), Israel (Tel Aviv) and Ukraine (Kyiv).
“KhIA planned to increase passenger traffic by 60% in 2016 compared to 2015 and carry about 550,000 passengers”, – previously said the airport General Director Vladimir Vasilchenko.
