International Airport Kharkiv (IAKh) has handled about 40,000 passengers in February 2017 that is 67% more than the same period last year.
According to the airport press service, passenger traffic on international flights composed 70% of the total amount.
In February the most popular flights were to Istanbul (Pegasus, Atlasglobal), Kyiv (UIA), Minsk (Belavia), Warsaw (LOT), Tel-Aviv (UIA). The leading destination among charter flights was to Sharm el-Sheikh (Windrose, Azur Air Ukraine, Bravo).
Encouraging progress, Kharkiv airport will open several new regular flights this spring. On March 30, Turkish Airlines starts regular flights from Kharkiv to Istanbul. The first flight to Tbilisi by Georgian Airways is scheduled on April 12.
International Airport Kharkiv is developing rapidly, as revealed in the new airport traffic report for 2016 released by ACI Europe (Airport Council International).
Kharkiv airport is the only representative of Ukraine in the rating of European airports with the fastest traffic growth.
The enterprise is placed in a group 4 (the passenger flow is less than 5 m people per year) and demonstrated an increase of 60.1% compared to 2015.
ACI Europe also noted that, despite the obvious negative circumstances, Ukraine has shown great growth.
