Leading Scientists Consider Economic Ideas of Kharkiv Nobel Laureate Timely

Second Annual International Scientific Conference CED-2017 Economic Development and Heritage of Simon Kuznets took place at Kharkiv National Economic University (KhNEU) on June 1–2.

The conference was aimed at updating the scientific heritage of Simon Kuznets, the 1971 Nobel Laureate in Economics and development economics theoretician.

This year, more than 300 scientists from the universities of Bulgaria, Italy, Mongolia, Germany, Norway, Poland, France, and Japan participated in the event. The experts in science from Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Odesa, Kharkiv and several other cities came to represent Ukraine.

Attaché of the French Embassy in Ukraine Sylvain Rigollet emphasized the significant experience of KhNEU in the development of international educational and scientific projects.

Professor Jan-Urban Sandal of the self-named institute in Norway noted the relevance of Kuznets’s ideas in the current conditions of world countries’ development, the importance of integrating the scientists and practitioners’ efforts in the process of studying the features of national economic growth.

During the scientific event, KhNEU signed an agreement with the Fil. Dr. Jan-U. Sandal Institute on the development of joint programs for the preparation of Ph.D. students on the basis of a combination of scientific schools of the two universities.

As result of the conference, participants have developed a resolution suggesting ways and means to determine the points of economic growth in Ukraine, to overcome crisis situations of its development caused by the complex political and economic situation in the country.
