Yesterday, on June 13, the representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) arrived to Kharkiv. European bankers came into Kharkiv metro and rode from Prospekt Haharina to Istorychnyi Myzei metro station.
They were presented with the project of the third metro line before investing 320 million EUR into its construction.
The investment would be provided to construct Derzhavinska and Odeska new metro stations and a new depot at Peremoha station. 85 new carriages will be purchased as well.
The first vice-president of the EBRD Philippe Bennet specified that half of the sum will come from the EBRD and another half from the European Investment Bank.
The investment sum will be approved by the investment committee and the banks’ board of directors.
Also Bennett noted that an agreement for 10 million EUR loan to buy 50 new energy saving trolleybuses was signed in Kharkiv. 8 million will be provided by the EBRD and 2 million by Clean Technology Fund (CTF).
Currently the loan rate and term have not been disclosed to the public. However, it was mentioned that “this would be a long period”.
According to Bennett, the agreement will be presented at the meeting of the EBRD board in November, so the projects might be signed by the end of this year.
