Kharkivites have always been reaching for beautiful things. The city is proud of its large variety of theaters, cinemas, museums, parks; some Kharkivites believe the city has no equal, at least in Ukraine. Recently, CNN publication mentioned Kharkiv among top must visit places in Ukraine. It has regained its identity since new modern sculptures, fountains, festivals, and concerts appeared.
Kharkiv Observer has chosen five places where Kharkivites and city guests can not only get closer to art but also enrich themselves culturally at no cost.
1. Yermilov Centre
This is a modern exhibition centre which promotes the development of modern Ukrainian art and its integration into the world artistic context. What is more, it is a communication platform for international cooperation and cross-cultural dialogue.
Yermilov Centre constantly holds exhibitions, concerts, lectures, discussions, performances, festivals, master classes, cinema, video shows and meet-the-artist sessions most of which are free of charge. Some expositions are rather extravagant.

2. Literary Museum
Kharkiv Literary Museum has developed noticeably during the past few years. For today apart from exhibitions, excursions, and interactive programs, it carries out regular meetings with writers, fascinating public readings, literary picnics, presentations, cultural discussions, and workshops.
Moreover, in its second year, there is a street library “Knyzhkova Kliumba” (Books Flowerbed) near the museum where you can relax and enjoy reading, poring over a book, forgetting about the city vanity.

3. Studio 42 hub of civic activity
This is a platform for interaction and development of social initiatives. It’s a place for work, study, recreation, and creativity. Studio 42 is both coworking and a platform for lectures, meetings, social discussions, trainings, forums, conferences, film screenings, concerts and talks on a variety of topics. The entrance to the events is usually free.

4. Municipal Gallery
Kharkiv Municipal Gallery is a model of a modern platform for the realization of creative initiatives by artists and other representatives of the city cultural diaspora. Every two weeks the gallery exhibits new expositions. In addition, it constantly holds the following cultural events: performances, concerts, chamber performances, literary evenings, lectures, master classes, designer fashion shows, festivals, etc.

5. AVEC Gallery
One of the favorite places for aesthetic rest of Kharkiv residents and guests is AVEC Gallery. Exhibitions of Ukrainian and foreign artists’ works of painting, graphics, sculpture, photo art as well as personal collections of the founder of the gallery Olexandr Feldman are available for everyone. Also, excursions, master classes, lectures, video lessons and other actions are free for visitors. It is opened daily.
