According to the head of the press center of Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in Kharkiv region Vladyslav Abdula the young man was detained on suspicion of distributing separatist leaflets in Kupiansk district.
The law-enforcement officers established the Donetsk region native had been disseminating leaflets calling for violation of territorial integrity of Ukraine and support of “Novorossiya”.
The young man was paid for the dissemination of the leaflets. The couriers delivered the leaflets and stored them in the cache located in an abandoned building.
The leaflets say: “We are obliged to hold referendums in all regions of the South-East of the former Ukraine to establish Novorossiya and join the Russian Federation. If you love your children and believe in a bright future, start initiating people’s gatherings in villages and towns.”
The SBU officers detained the suspect in Kupiansk when he was posting up the leaflets. According to SBU, the suspect acted under supervision from Russia.
The investigators initiated a criminal proceeding under Article 110 of the Criminal Code (trespass against territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine). The propagandist faces up to five years of imprisonment.
