On November 17, Sigma Software IT company opened a new computer lab, equipped with modern computers, projector, screen and furniture, in Kharkiv Regional Tuberculosis Clinical Sanatorium for Children.
The event took place in conjunction with the joint charity project with Okean Elzy famous Ukrainian rock band. In 2016, the group gave concerts in Stockholm, Sweden, as a part of their World Tour. Income from one of these concerts, supplemented with Sigma Software donation, which totaled UAH 600,000 ($22,660), was contributed to equipping computer labs in two specialized schools in Lviv and Kharkiv.
The project’s goal is to provide orphans, children from single-parent or adverse families a possibility to plunge into information technology world, boost Math and English, which will increase their chances to get a better education in the future. Thus, in Kharkiv, the project decided to support Regional Tuberculosis Clinical Sanatorium for Children, where kids get treatment and study simultaneously.
“We donate to some universities with computer equipment as we have a direct interest in well-trained students. But kids from such educational institutions have hardly ever had access to computers. We aim to help them to get computer literate in the basics to let them find a decent job in future,” company’s general director Valeriy Krasovsky noted.
“The institution’s administration and its pupils thank Okean Elzy and Sigma Software for a valuable contribution. It’s almost impossible to describe kids’ happiness,” the sanatorium’s headteacher Iryna Petrova said.
In return, kids presented self-made gifts to benefactors.
