Kharkiv customs’ actual annual revenue turned out to be higher than the planned one. As a result, the customs directed 471.5 million UAH (about $17 million) to the region’s essential road repairs in 2017.
The State Fiscal Service of Ukraine reports that half of the overpayment excess from customs’ charges has been allocated for the reconstruction and overhaul of the regional highways.
Merely in December 2017, the customs provided 12.5 million UAH to repair roads as the exceeding payments to the General Fund of the State budget amounted to 25 million UAH.
Consequently, Kharkivites observe many important busy roads were reconstructed in the remote rural areas, where some of the highways had not been fixed for over ten years.
