Ukrainian number one tennis player, 22-year-old Elina Svitolina has reached WTA Top 3. This is the highest ever ranking record for any professional Ukrainian tennis player.
Svitolina won nine WTA titles including five won in the current season, three of which are Premier 5 series tournaments, Dubai, Rome, Toronto, and two more are WTA International tournaments, Taipei and Istanbul. For the first time, she reached fourth round of both Wimbledon and the US Open. Svitolina also recorded her second quarter final on clay at Roland-Garros, Paris.
This also makes the Kharkvite the first ever tennis player, who has won three Premier 5 tournaments within a single season.
Elina Svitolina set an absolute national record among both men and women. Until then, Elina shared the status of record holder with Andriy Medvedev, who became the highest ranked Ukraine’s male tennis players holding No. 4 of the Association of Tennis Professionals rating at the age of 19 in 1994.
Currently third in the WTA rankings, she is going to be one of the main contenders at the WTA Finals in Singapore, where the top eight women tennis players will compete for the Prestigious WTA Season end Championship.
