This year the appropriate project documentation is to be worked out to start the fundamental reconstruction of the famous palace, located in Sharivka village, 80 km from Kharkiv.
After a long period of neglect, leading to ruin the previously stunning white-stone castle of the late 19 century, it may, at last, get protected by the state as an architectural monument this year. Urgent reconstruction will be launched immediately after that.
According to the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, it is important to develop the historical and architectural plan of Sharivka village and accounting documentation for the Sadyba Palace and Park to include it into the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine. Therefore it will get protected by the law as the cultural heritage of Ukraine.
The funds, which are necessary to start work, were allocated during the session of the regional council on March 1.
Currently, experts are going to carry out the engineering, historical and architectural studies of the landmark to determine the priority of palace and park ensemble’s reconstruction work.
As Kharkiv Regional State Administration reports, the first major task now is to repair utilities and roofing of the palace.
“At the same time, negotiations are underway with some German specialists who have the similar experience of restoration in Germany,” says Head of Kharkiv Regional Administration Yulia Svitlychna.
The program of reconstruction of the historical site is planned to be implemented until 2021.
Reference: One of the best palace and park ensembles in Ukraine, created in 19 century, was turned into a tuberculosis sanatorium in 1925 and it operated as such until 2008 when the activists contributed to closing the sanatorium and made the authorities start the palace reconstruction.
