The flags of European countries, visited by Ukrainian philosopher Hryhorii Skovoroda, appeared near his museum in Skovorodynivka, Kharkiv region.
About 100 representatives of Kharkiv local and regional authorities, culture, science and tourism workers, including participants from the Poltava region, where Skovoroda was born, and international guests, visited the flags raising ceremony. The event was dedicated to the 295th anniversary of Skovoroda’s birth.
The flags of Italy, Austria, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Germany with the one of Ukraine as the ceremony host country in the center were raised on European Ring alley on the Skovoroda Literary Memorial museum’ s territory.
“The alley of flags of the EU countries symbolically reflects the milestones in the philosopher’s life. In 1745, he began to explore the world traveling around Europe. He met with scholars who enriched him intellectually, gave necessary knowledge and experience, which he transferred to people back home,” the director of the museum Natalia Mytsai said.
