Since early 2017, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine has registered the significant increase of export in the Kharkiv region. During first eight months of 2017, the export increased 16.8 percent compared to the same period in the previous year.
Furthermore, the turnover of goods and services trade with the countries of the European Union has increased by 12.3 percent, which has been the record for the last five years. Overall, the EU accounts for approximately 19 percent of Kharkiv region’s export.
Reviewing the first nine months of 2017 trade statistic, experts point out that the main exported goods were packaged food products, machinery, electrical equipment, metal and mechanical devices. In addition, export of chemical products has grown.
It is worth mentioning that the European Union imported mostly products of plant-based origin from the Kharkiv region.
Reference: For the period from January to August 2017, exports of goods from the Kharkiv region amounted to $ 764.3 million.
