The fourth Music Day was held today in Kharkiv. The Day of Music is an international event that takes place in over 450 cities in 116 countries. 100 musicians, performers, actors, dancers, and lecturers joined the international Fête de la Musique movement.
For one day Kharkiv streets were packed with a colorful and awesome mixture of folk and jazz, hip-hop and classical music, electronic, acoustic and lounge music. 20 outdoor and indoor venues presented a variety of incredible art events. This year festival participants presented their show not only in the center, but also in the park near 23 Serpnia metro station and in the children’s park on Plekhanivska street and others districts.
Kharkivites and the city guests enjoyed street piano concerts, orchestras, and choirs in the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The audience could also learn about the history of music and took part in unusual installations at Zhivot Night Club.
The event ended with the open-air festival of Ukrainian movies.
Music Day in Kharkiv was organized by a diverse team of musicians, journalists, advertising pros, IT specialists and civic activists.
“We are really happy to see our city welcoming more and more international folks from all over the world with each passing year, and we truly want our guests to feel like home”, noted the organizers.
The festival was supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) within Ukraine Confidence Building Initiative II (UCBI II).
