Italian Ambassador Discusses Attracting Foreign Investments to Kharkiv Region

This week, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy in Ukraine Davide La Cecilia arrived in Kharkiv. During his visit, he took part in a series of activities and held several meetings.

At Karazin Kharkiv National University, he gave a lecture as a part of International Scientific Conference “Multiwavelength Astrophysics from Radio to Gamma-Rays” that took place on September 25-27. The Ambassador informed about the activities the Italian Embassy in Ukraine is running to promote international cooperation. One of these is the meeting of leading Italian scientists with their colleagues representing widely-known Ukrainian physics and astrophysics scientific schools.

Davide La Cecilia also told about the consular network which focuses on three key issues: processing of visas, supporting the Ukrainian community in Italy and the Italian community in Ukraine.

The Ambassador also held a meeting with Head of Kharkiv Regional State Administration Yulia Svitlychna. “This is not the first time Mr. La Cecilia visits Kharkiv,” notes Svitlychna. “Cooperation between our region and Italy has already been effective. In particular, nonstop flights to Italy have been launched this year.”

Mr. La Cecilia expressed interest in health care field cooperation. “Two universities in Italy, which deal with heart surgery, are ready to cooperate with their Ukrainian colleagues. We would like to develop this sector not only in Kyiv.”

“We have an agreement to intensify economic and business dialogue, which will provide opportunities to attract investment, as well as new projects in the Kharkiv region,” told the governor summing up the meeting.

The Ambassador together with Italian delegation is going to take part in the 10th International Economic Forum “Innovation. Investments. Kharkiv Initiatives!” which will be carried out on September 29-30. Mr. La Cecilia hopes it will help attract more foreign investments to the region.
