On April 27, the first plane from Kharkiv to Milan, Italy, took off from Kharkiv International Airport at 10:05 p.m.
This flight marked the official opening of the nonstop connection Kharkiv-Milan by Ukrainian International Airlines.
Kharkiv airport prepared a surprise for the flight’s passengers to celebrate launching the new destination. The travelers were welcomed with flowers, Italy primary-colored balloons, champagne and a big cake with a Milan Cathedral symbol.
The flight lasted 3 hours 15 minutes and landed at Milan Bergamo airport. The returning aircraft arrived in Kharkiv airport on April 28 at 5:20 a.m.
Kharkiv-Milan flight has become the first European destination offered by the Ukrainian International Airlines from Kharkiv. From the city airport, the airline also operates routes to Kyiv and Tel-Aviv.
“These destinations are traditionally in great demand among Kharkivites,” the airport officials point out. “We expect the same popularity for the flights to Milan. The first one was sold out.”
The cost of return tickets without luggage starts from UAH 5,018 (approximately $188). Flights are operated twice a week.
Reference: Kharkiv-Milan is the second new European destination, introduced at Kharkiv International airport in 2018.
