“During the first six months of 2019, passenger traffic rose 26 percent higher compared to the same period in 2018 totaling 552,600 people. The air carries operated 2,478 flights from the airport,” Kharkiv International Airport’s press-service informs.
In June, a total of 124,400 passengers used the airport, 9 percent more than in the same period last year.
Top-flight destinations include Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, Istanbul and Antalya, Turkey, Austrian and Ukrainian capitals, Vienna and Kyiv, respectively.
Highlights of June were launching of regular flights to Rimini, Italy, the French capital, Paris, Kutaisi, Georgia, and Ukrainian “pearl of the sea” Odesa. All the above flights are operated by SkyUp Airlines. Ryanair low-cost airline has recently started nonstop flights to Krakow, Poland.
Extra seasonal flights to traditionally popular destinations were added to Thessalonica, Greece, on Saturdays, operated by Ellinair air carrier, Beirut, Lebanon, on Fridays by Bravo Airways, and Tivat, Montenegro, on Sundays, operated by SkyUp and Jonika Airlines. Regular flight to Batumi, Georgia, is operated by YanAir Airlines on Wednesdays.
In June, Kharkiv Airport became the first airport in Ukraine which was certified by the new rules that meet European standards.
