“Last week, practical exercise on counteracting the threats of information warfare took place in the National Academy of the National Guard of Ukraine with cadets of the Faculty of Humanities,” reports the Academy’s communications department.
Classes were conducted using interactive exercises and teamwork. During the lesson, the cadets developed a culture of communication in social networks, worked out strategies for persuasion and inspiration of staff.
“Skills to counter information threats are crucial for future officers. In the context of a hybrid conflict, a strong focus has been developed on the information environment. That is why the level of media literacy and critical thinking should constantly be improved,” notes the officer of the Euro-Atlantic Integration Department, senior lieutenant Dmytro Oderiy.
In addition, cadets-philologists together with Academy’s officers are involved in the project on countering Russian aggression and misinformation in Ukraine. The Academy team obtain funding from the EdVenture Partners American agency amounting to $1,000. The team is creating the #kozhen_ZMI project (Everyone_Media). It’s a basic course for new military personnel called “How to resist Russian aggression and misinformation online and in social networks.” This course is created for the security sector and defense sector of Ukraine personnel to inform them about contemporary threats in the information space.
