Today Kharkivites honor the courage and heroism of the defenders of Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity. In the morning people gathered near the memorial to the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) soldiers, laid flowers and honored the memory of heroes with a moment of silence.
In the afternoon about 70 people representing cossacks and patriotic youth organizations gathered near the monument to Ivan Sirko and marched to the soldiers of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) monument in the Youth Park.
Also, the Glory of the Heroes alley was unveiled on the cemetery No. 18. Several volunteer organizations initiated the opening of the alley. Thirty four graves of Kharkivites who fought in the Russian-Ukrainian war will be located here.
During the commemoration of the fallen ATO heroes, the new flag of unity was presented. It consists of the flags of the battalions and volunteer organizations, which fought in ATO. The length of the flag is 40 meters. The flag will travel around the country. According to the volunteers, the new flags will cease to be added as soon as the war stops.
