Today, friends, family and fellow soldiers paid their last tribute to Oleh Shevchenko in the town of Lozova, Kharkiv region.
Oleh was born in Lozova on September 20, 1988, and lived there with his mother and brother. In 2015, he decided to defend Ukraine and joined the Army.
Oleh Shevchenko served as a soldier in the 25th Territorial Defence Battalion “Kyivska Rus” of the 54th Separate Motorized Brigade. He was killed by a sniper near Luhanske village, Donetsk region, on December 23.
The 29-year-old hero was buried at the town’s central cemetery next to his fellows, who had fallen at the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Oleh’s brothers in arms made a little panel with a patchwork of his photos, which they brought to the funeral. “He was a joyful and optimistic person, someone you will always miss,” they recall.
Only a week ago Kharkiv mourned 48-year-old patriot Yuriy Zykov, who was fighting at Svitlodarska Duha and died suddenly of a heart attack.
