Kharkivite Wins Bronze at 2017 UEC European Track Championships

The 2017 UEC European Track Championships took place on October 18–22 in Berlin.

According to the Department of Youth and Sports of Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Andriy Vinokurov became a bronze medalist in men’s keirin.

Shane Perkins from Russia got a silver medal, and the champion of Europe Maximillian Levy from Germany won gold.

In men’s sprint, Andriy was fourth. He lost to the eventual champion, Sebastien Vigier from France, and in the race for the bronze medal, he lost to Denis Dmitriev from Russia.

In the team sprint, Ukrainians Andriy Kutsenko and Vladymyr Buchinsky from Lviv together with Andriy Vinokurov managed to take the ninth place.
Another Kharkivite, Elena Starikova, also participated in the championship. Her best result in women’s 500-meter time trial was fourth. Tetyana Klimchenko got silver in women’s scratch race.

In total, Ukrainian cyclists won one silver and three bronze medals at the European Championship. In the medal table, the Ukrainian team was ranked 11th. Germans topped tournaments crosstable winning five gold, four silver, and three bronze medals. The second place was taken by the French, and the third was the team from Great Britain.
