Kharkivites Demand Political Reform

This morning a meeting for limiting parliamentary immunity was held by a number of political and civic activists outside the Kharkiv Regional State Administration.

The organizers explain that this meeting was a part of the all-Ukrainian action for major political reform, which is taking place at the Verkhovna Rada in Kyiv today.

Among the participants, there were activists of Ukrop political party, Chesno movement, Kharkiv Anticorruption Center and other organizations.

In addition to limiting the parliamentary immunity, several dozen protesters demanded to introduce an electoral reform – to turn to a proportional system with open candidates’ lists – to reduce the number of political advertisements on television and to create an anticorruption court.

After the meeting, the participants registered the appeal to the Head of the State Administration Yulia Svitlychna and the deputies of the regional council to support their initiatives.
