On May 6, the Memorial of Glory to the deceased soldiers was opened on the base of the 92nd Mechanized Brigade named after Ataman Ivan Sirko near Chuhuiv, the Kharkiv region.
The opening ceremony took place on the Day of Infantry that has been celebrated in Ukraine for the second year. The event was attended by servicemen and brigade veterans, representatives of the “Skhid” (East) Operational Command, local authorities and the clergy.
Every part of the memorial has a small coat of arms of Ukraine, comprising a Trident, carved from stone, mounted on a stylized fortified structure – a gabion. There are six granite slabs nearby – according to the number of years the war in Donbas has been going on. The names of 63 fallen soldiers of the brigade who were killed during the war years are engraved on each slab.
Reference: Since the onset of the Russian military aggression against Ukraine, servicemen of the 92nd Mechanized Brigade have been performing combat missions to protect the Belgorod-Kharkiv section of the state border in the Velykyi Burluk and Vovchansk districts of the Kharkiv region. On October 10, 2016 – November 5, 2017, the brigade took part in military action as part of the Mariupol Task Force on the Maryinka – Krasnohorivka – Taramchuk border.
