Kharkiv International Airport’s press-service informs that passenger traffic reached 140,400 people in August; it is 48 percent higher than in the same period last year. In this way, the airport sets a new own record for passenger traffic within one month.
The previous record was broken in July 2019, when 130,700 passengers traveled through the airport.
During the first eight months of 2019, passenger traffic rose 29 percent from the same period in 2018 totaling 823,700 people. In particular, overseas passenger traffic increased by 33 percent and amounted to 675,500 passengers; 148,100 people used domestic flights increasing passenger traffic by 13 percent.
According to the airport’s press-service, in August, the air carries operated 527 flights from the airport which is 9 percent more than in the same period last year. Overall, there were 392 international and 135 domestic flights.
During eight months of 2019, the total number of flights amounted to 3,536 which is 14 percent higher than over the same period last year, including 2,427 international and 1,109 domestic flights.
Top-flight destinations are Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt, Istanbul and Antalya in Turkey, Tel-Aviv in Israel, Kutaisi in Georgia, Barcelona in Spain and Polish, Austrian and Ukrainian capitals, Warsaw, Vienna and Kyiv, respectively.
Overall, six additional flights will be launched to Kyiv on September 13-29.
Ernest Airlines air-carrier is starting seasonal winter flights to Rome on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and Milan on Wednesdays and Sundays from November 30.
Wizz Air airlines announced the launch of a new route to the Hungarian capital Budapest on Mondays and Fridays from June 1, 2020.
