Three Kharkiv Universities are in Eastern Europe and Central Asia University Ranking

Three Kharkiv higher educational institutions are in the rating of the best universities, according to QS University Rankings: Eastern Europe & Central Asia 2018. In total, 250 universities were included in the list.


Karazin Kharkiv National University took the 53rd place.

National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” ranked 93rd.

Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics shared 191st to 200th places together with other universities.

In total, 16 Ukrainian universities made it to the listing.

The grade was based on eight indicators:

  • academic reputation;
  • employer reputation;
  • faculty/student ratio;
  • papers per faculty;
  • web impact;
  • citations per paper;
  • the proportion of staff with Ph.D.;
  • the proportion of international faculty members and students.

The QS World University Rankings rated universities from 21 countries, such as Estonia, Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Turkey, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Croatia, and others.

Reference: QS ratings are one of the most respected world universities’ rankings.  For the first time, they were published by Quacquarelli Symonds British consulting company in 2014.
