CoronaVac and Pfizer Vaccines Arrive to Kharkiv

In April, CoronaVac vaccine developed by the Chinese company Sinovac Biotech and American/German Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine were brought to Ukraine.

On April 13, CoronaVac vaccine was delivered to Kharkiv. Overall, 8,520 doses of the vaccine are targeted to vaccinate 4,260 people.

Vaccination with CoronaVac vaccine will be carried out in two stages:

“Physically challenged people and their carers, as well as the employees who will be involved in external independent testing evaluations (Ukrainian analog of SAT), will be vaccinated with the Chinese vaccine. Vaccination will be carried out by mobile teams that work with the Covishield vaccine. They have received appropriate training to work with the new vaccine,” informs a Kharkiv official.

“On April 18, Kharkiv region received 1,170 doses of Pfizer/ BioNTech vaccine to immunize people in residential care homes and the staff. Two specially trained teams have already started vaccination in the respective institutions according to the developed plan,” informs the Kharkiv Regional State Administration.

Ukraine received Pfizer/ BioNTech vaccine under the COVAX international initiative.

As of April 19, 15,791 people were vaccinated with the Covishield AstraZeneca vaccine.
