According to Inter football club official site, the Italian club founded “Inter Academy Ukraine Arsenal City” in Kharkiv on June 15.
Francesco Toldo, ex-goalkeeper of the Italian football club, took part in the inauguration. He noted that the academy has been started and based at the Kharkiv Arsenal football club.
“Playing football is the dream of every child and through the sporting values, they also have the opportunity to develop at the human level. Thanks to Inter Academy and the abilities of its coaches, it may become possible. I am happy that kids’ dreams may come true,” said Francesco Toldo.
At the opening ceremony, about 60 youngsters between the age of 8 and 15 took part in activities on the pitch with over 140 in the stands.
In the early days of the project, two overseas coaches will work in Kharkiv to train and coordinate local coaches. They are Aldo Montinaro, senior technical operation manager, and Inter Academy coach Sidi Othman El Jaouhari, who will stay in Ukraine as the first permanent coach.
Inter is planning to adapt the club’s practices to the local environment, and to apply not only technical but also ethical standards of Italian football.
