For two weeks in December, Kharkiv law enforcement officers were trained by their colleagues in the United States. The training program was held at Houston Police Academy, Texas, the USA. The video, published by Kharkiv police at its Facebook page, presents the highlights of the training.
In addition to Kharkivites, the patrol policemen from two further Ukrainian cities – Odesa and Kyiv – took part in the program. The training was provided for the new Ukrainian unit of tactical-operational patrol police. American officers shared their practical experience with Ukrainian law enforcement.
According to the patrol police department, Ukrainian police officers were studying methodologies and practices of US counterparts. In particular, they passed several courses on effective actions during mass riots. It is specified that the Kharkiv policemen practiced shooting from a variety of weapons, learned best tactics and approaches during mass events.
Reference: The new tactical-operational police patrol unit was created in Ukraine in 2016. Its functions include patrolling the city, maintain order in the streets during mass riots, meetings and events. There are a lot of ATO veterans among the unit’s officers.
