“Kharkiv Morozov Machine-Building Design Bureau received a state order for producing 75 BTR-4E armored vehicles, one BTR-4K command and staff vehicle and a BREM-4RM repair and recovery vehicle for the next year,” Ukrainian Military Portal informs.
The armored personnel carrier BTR-4 Bucephalus is designed to transport military personnel and provide firepower throughout the battle.
The demonstration prototype was first presented to the public in June 2006 at the Aviasvit-XXI exhibition in Kyiv, and production commenced several years later for the overseas customer, but they later refused to purchase several batches due to vehicles’ low quality.
After the start of the Russian aggression in 2014, the Ukrainian law enforcement agencies became interested in the armored personnel carriers and they were significantly improved during active operations.
The production site for the manufacturing of chassis bodies was moved from Lozova Forging-Mechanical Plant, situated in Lozova, the Kharkiv Region, to Kharkiv Morozov Machine-Building Design Bureau.
In 2020, the Bureau has already produced 45 BTR-4E armored vehicles for the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. Work is progressing on armored personnel carriers for the National Guard of Ukraine. The customer has already received eight vehicles, 10 are being completed.
