Kharkiv Tractor Plant carried out traction tests of KhTZ-280 four-tracked vehicle. It might cost at least three times cheaper than foreign analogs, the company’s press-service reports.
Kharkiv Tractor Plant together with the Vasylenko National Technical University of Agriculture and Kremenchuk Wheel Plant have been testing wheeled tractors’ traction performance during three weeks.
The vehicles are equipped with 240-horsepower and new 250-horsepower engines and have a new system of double tires, as well as a wheel balancing one. The specialists also conducted traction tests for the experimental KhTZ-280 tractor with four caterpillars instead of wheels. The model can be fitted with wheels or caterpillars.
“The use of dual wheels with a ballast cargo allows realizing the maximum tractive force a tractor with 240–250 horsepower engine can deliver. Such vehicle makes less pressure on the soil than the one with single tires without a ballast cargo. Therefore, the farmers can save the soil organic matter, its so-called immune system. The increasing of the traction force will allow boosting the tractor’s productivity using modern agricultural implements,” the technical director Victor Pivovar emphasized.
